Synergy in motion, London five-piece Ezra Collective are proving themselves as a harmonious tour de force. Their sound nods respectfully to a classic jazz footprint, celebrating the originators whilst simultaneously carving a path solely their own. Ezra Collective marry the delicate technicalities of jazz musicianship with afrobeat and hip hop, tied together by a sound that’s unmistakably London. Featuring Jorja Smith, KOKOROKO and Loyle Carner, their exuberant debut album You Can’t Steal My Joy helped Ezra Collective break out beyond the thriving UK jazz scene and cement their status as one of the UK’s most exciting groups.
Partnering with local soul & funk guru, Chris Gill (Triple R, Northside Records), we put together an in-store performance for Ezra Collective down at the institution that is Northside Records. It was a really sweaty night with Ezra getting everyone goin’ as the room packed out and spilled onto the street.
